Since its founding in 1994 by Stephan Kurmann (Bass Player, Manager and Artistic Director) the Bird's Eye Jazz Club in Basel, has become a world-class jazz venue for jazz audiences and jazz musicians alike. It is one of the most sought after and prestigious small, cosy jazz venues in all of Europe. The March 2007 edition of the Easy Jet Magazine placed 'The Bird's Eye Jazz Club' as one of the three best jazz clubs in Europe along side London's 'Ronnie Scotts' and 'Nardis' in Istanbul.
The Bird's Eye Jazz Club has, from time to time, recorded it's live shows in front of a captivated audience. Unlike a studio recording the Bird's Eye recordings have been able to capture the true essence of Jazz - LIVE. Alexia Gardner with her Trio have done just that. Her album is a selection of recordings over 3 nights. They were recorded on the 27th and 28th of October 2009 and the 17th of February 2011. The result is a superb collection of jazz standards, familiar pop tunes and originals.
